Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using Chess Analyzer. The same terms are presented inside the application and apply to the web version, the Android application and this website.
1. Provided "as is" — no warranty
This application is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The developer makes no guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.
2. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to: damage to your device, loss of data, loss of profits, crashes, freezes, or any other harm arising from your use of this application — even if the developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
3. Chess analysis — educational use only
The chess analysis features, including engine evaluations, move classifications, and opening recognition, are provided for entertainment and educational purposes only. They do not constitute professional chess coaching or advice. You should not rely solely on this application for competitive preparation or any purpose requiring professional-grade accuracy.
4. Stockfish engine
This application uses the Stockfish chess engine, which is open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL v3). Stockfish is used in accordance with its licence. The Stockfish project is not affiliated with or responsible for this application.
5. Accounts & data
Chess analysis runs entirely on your device by default: your PGN games, moves, engine evaluations, and settings are processed locally and are never transmitted or shared.
The one exception is Cloud Analysis, an optional feature available to some accounts. It is off unless you turn it on, and you are asked to confirm before it is first used. While it is on, the board positions of the game you are analysing are sent to our analysis server (hosted on Google Cloud), which runs the chess engine and returns the evaluations. Those positions are not stored once the analysis finishes, and no other part of your games is transmitted. You can switch back to on-device analysis at any time. See the privacy policy for details of what is sent and what is retained.
To provide accounts and related features, the application uses Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). When you first open the application you are assigned an anonymous account identifier, which is created and stored on Google's servers. If you choose to sign in with Google, the application additionally collects and stores your Google account email address and display name. This information is used solely to identify your account, to remember whether you are registered, and to determine which features are available to you. It is stored and processed by Google acting as our service provider, and Google's handling of it is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. No chess games, moves, or analysis are ever linked to your account, and none are transmitted off your device except as described above for Cloud Analysis.
You may use the application as a guest without signing in.
If you have signed in, you may delete your account at any time from within the application, under Settings → Account → "Delete account". Deleting your account permanently removes your account record — including your email address and display name — from Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. This cannot be undone, and any ad-free or other tier entitlement associated with the account is lost with it. Because the application continues to function without a sign-in, a new anonymous account identifier is assigned to you after deletion, as described above. If you are unable to access the application, you may instead request deletion here. Chess games, moves, analysis, and settings are held only on your device and are not affected by account deletion; you can remove those by clearing the application's data or uninstalling it.
6. Advertising (web version)
The web version of the application may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar browser storage to serve and measure those advertisements; this is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Where required by law, including in the EEA and the United Kingdom, Google presents a consent dialog before personalised advertising is served. Advertising is not shown in the Android or iOS versions, and is not shown to accounts on an ad-free tier. No chess games, moves, or analysis are shared with advertisers.
7. User assumes all risk
Your use of this application is entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for any damage to your device or loss of data that results from downloading, installing, or using this application.
8. Changes to these terms
The developer reserves the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be presented within the application. Your continued use of the application following any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction. Any disputes arising from your use of this application shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in your jurisdiction.
